Publishers Weekly Picks Best Food Books of 2009

While five cookbooks of the Chang-Keller-Reichl variety made it it onto Publishers Weekly’s top 100 books of the year list last week, the editors decided to cull another ten into a separate “best food books of 2009” list. Philly-based authors Tara Mataraza Desmond and Joy Manning (who is also the food critic for Philadelphia magazine) landed on the list for their not-totally-vegetarian cookbook Almost Meatless; lest anyone wonder where the beef is, the Lobel butcher cabal’s Meat Bible also made the list. Cookbooks from New York chefs Marco Canora, Michael Psilakis and Boston’s Barbara Lynch were included while Co.’s Jim Lahey won an honorable mention for My Bread: The Revolutionary No-Work, No-Knead Method .
