Mayes Oyster House Opening Wednesday

Mayes Oyster House is set to open Wednesday, bringing a new version of an old-school concept back to Polk Gulch. The 132-year-old restaurant has been through a lot of inceptions in its time, most recently the short-lived Midpoint, but the latest promises a return to the restaurant’s roots (including bringing back the original name). “We’re going to do old-school San Francisco seafood house meets new-style cocktail joint. Big martinis, Manhattans, sidecars. We’re going to have a DJ, and have live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Nothing on the menu will be more than 18 bucks,” owner Erik Reese told Grub Street on the phone. The “friends and family” dinner was last night, and they’re planning to open to the general public on Wednesday, Reese said. Stay tuned for a menu and more opening details.
