Whipped Bakeshop, the first storefront/cake studio for cult baker of Yoda cookies Zoe Lukas, plans to open its doors this Wednesday after a slight delay from the original opening date of October 14. Whipped will only sell cupcakes and La Colombe coffee for immediate consumption out of the Fishtown store - Lukas says her elaborate cookies and cakes are too labor-intensive to prepare for retail purchases and must be special-ordered - at least for the time being. Lukas says to expect so see red velvet, vanilla buttermilk, zesty lemon and dark chocolate cupcakes with a variety of icings including bittersweet ganache and vanilla buttercream. Cupcakes range from $2.50 to $3.00 and she plans on tweeting the flavors daily. The storefront is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s closed on Mondays and open by appointment only on Tuesdays.
