The new foodie issue of Los Angeles gives us insight into what the rebirth of Hatfield’s could look like, and it sounds fairly avant garde. In a Q&A; with Alexis Readinger, the designer responsible for the radically different looks of both Akasha and Madame Chocolat, we learn what she has planned for the Melrose space formerly inhabited by Red Pearl Kitchen. Readinger suggests she’s going into experimental mode for this one, with something called a "living wall" and "tiles with fish scales." Weird, but definitely making us wonder. While promoting eclecticism in architecture herself, Readinger also finds room to realize how it adversely affects Los Angeles as well, citing, "all those ugly things in Malibu." Hatfield’s is set to re-open this winter, while we keep tabs on developments on Readinger’s website.
