The Mott and Chumley’s Get CB Approval, But Where Are Bohemian’s Fancy Drinks?

The Mott, which opened four months ago after an ownership shake up caused its liquor license to be taken away, has been hurting for customers. It recently parted ways with chef Brian Bieler, but finally, last night’s Community Board 2 meeting brought good news. Eater reports that the normally staunch board recommended it for a liquor license. Another winner last night: Chumley’s, though they’ll have to close at 2 a.m. just like they used to, not at 4 a.m. as desired. The bar’s lawyer wasn’t able to offer an opening date.

While we’re on the subject of liquor licenses (this is unrelated to the CB2 meeting, but vaguely in the neighborhood), last night we finally made it over to Japanese speakeasy Bohemian (no entry key required), and noticed they’re only selling beer, wine, and sake, though they had planned to serve Angel’s Share–caliber cocktails and are licensed for full liquor. Guess it’ll be a while before they get to show off the cocktail spotlight they installed over the bar.
