A surprising update on Fraiche’s expansion: The second location of chef Jason Travi’s restaurant will replace his year-old Riva in Santa Monica next Wednesday. Furthermore, Travi and his pastry chef/wife Miho are not cooking at either Fraiche, but are taking time off with their baby daughter to travel east until December. Travi told The L.A. Times, “I knew I needed to get away…Every day when I woke up and went to work, the baby was asleep, and she was asleep when I got home. It just wasn’t good.” Travi has consulted on Fraiche’s menu, while Elderoy Arendse and Sydney Hunter III will take the helms in its kitchens and John Park, formerly of Water Grill, will handle pastry duties. Travi will decide whether to return to Fraiche in December.
