Opening In November: Ceres’ Table

Oh fall, you bless us with your bounty of restaurant openings. The latest: chef Giuseppe Scurato of Burr Ridge’s Topaz Cafe is striking out on his own, opening a place to be called Ceres’ Cafe in the space previously occupied by Uptown’s Monticchio (4882 N. Clark St), reports Dish. Scurato describes the restaurant simultaneously as “contemporary American,” possessing “European influence,” and this time “it’s going to be some Italian.”

The name, as mythology buffs will note, is that of the Roman goddess of agriculture and the harvest — appropriate for a restaurant with a planned Thanksgiving-ish opening. No relation, we assume, to the planetoid meteor or to the South Loop’s Ceres Cafe.
