If you’re one of those dudes who walks around Venice with a rolled-up yoga mat and those half-capri, half-kung fu trousers, then you already know One Life. If you don’t, you should, though for years it was Main’s Street Santa Monica’s most missable hole-in-the-wall treasure, if only on the outside. That should change as the two-level health market has received a face-lift, now rocking the same new burgundy awning as Via Veneto, a hippie-dippy paint job on the flank, and new window dressings that will soon be complete.

Upstairs, One Life is an herbal pharmacy, the truly, totally legal kind, as well as an attached witch’s den of barks, flowers, roots, teas, mate, mugwort, and anything else one could brew for remedies both real and imagined.

Besides good veggies, healthy groceries, and a juice bar downstairs, you’ll find daily deliveries of Sakura’s sushi, without having to line up an hour before opening. There are also Korean rib tacos, but no, they’re not from Kogi, you still have to get in line for that. Regardless, it’s nice to see new life breathed into One Life. 3001 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405
