Would You Eat This Ugly Fish?

Today, The Atlantic tackles the issue of farmed versus wild fish, lamenting that farm-raised fish (which currently comprise more than half of the world’s seafood) are often bland and deceptively packaged. But there’s good news from National Geographic: Researchers have discovered a brand-new species off the coast of Bahia, Brazil! The bad news is this — it’s a bizarre gelatinous beast, and because of its blobby consistency, it doesn’t appear to be edible. But something tells us Andrew Zimmern’s people, if no one else, will find a way.
