The Blue Dog Beer Tavern joins Andre Guerrero and Gary Menes’ Marche L.A. in soft-opening today in Sherman Oaks. Blue Dog’s tiny space appears permanently under construction, decked out in a skeleton of exposed wooden beams. The menu is bent on comfort and bar food with no pretension: burgers in various sizes, pizzas, giant salads, and sandwiches served on fresh baguettes, as well as specialty beers. Blue Dog’s fryer will see heavy action though, churning out fresh fries and even a deep-fried pizza, which we don’t recall seeing in these parts before. Also smacking our chops is the promise of root beer bourbon ribs and house-baked cookies for ice cream sandwiches, which join a six-ingredient lasagna and two types of parmigiana, all under twelve dollars. The full menu is currently on Blue Dog’s website, though they are only serving lunch and dinner while settling into their space this first week.
