After yesterday’s news that he was fired by his stepfather at Moorpark’s Cafe Firenze, Top Chef player Fabio Viviani is bouncing back with a new restaurant, albeit one with a similar Florentine name. Eater points us to the new website for Firenze Osteria, opening in mid-October with the help of Fabio and his object of much ballyhooed bro-mance, Jacopo Falleni, who grew up with Viviani, co-authored his recent cookbook, and is also involved in the lawsuit against Cafe Firenze’s owner. Firenze Osteria takes over Barsac Brasserie, a fortunate change of names for this San Fernando Frenchie that closed last Friday. Barsac’s owner Lisa Long is completely renovating the space and banking on Viviani’s name and experience to bring new diners to the space she’s run in North Hollywood for 21 years. An October 24th grand-opening is planned for the public. We only hope Viviani will be there by that time.
