Farmerie 58 Is Closed; Sushi And ‘Clubby’ Concepts To Take Its Place

As swiftly and quietly as it entered the scene last fall, Farmerie 58 has closed, to be replaced by a first-floor sushi restaurant from owner Sandy Yu and a second-floor “clubby restaurant” from team Slick Design, 312DD reports. That the restaurant held on for a full year is to its credit: tepid opening reviews and a farm-to-table concept that wasn’t always clear meant a rocky start, and then exec chef Billy Alexander up and walked out on Yu one day, leaving the restaurant scrambling for a culinary figurehead. It’s hard for any place to recover from blows like that. [312DD]
