Dr. Phil Hits Up Cheesesteak Las Vegas, RTM

We hear that mustachioed daytime talk show host Dr. Phil visited Reading Terminal Market and the Pat’s/Geno’s Nexus of Cheesesteakery this past Saturday, on the hunt for possible candidates for an upcoming show. What sort of guests would a visit to these Philly food hot spots turn up? And what sort of effect might the twang-talkin’ Dr. Phil have on them?

While we’re generally kind of creeped out by Dr. Phil’s approach, we were hoping his tough love style might have worked a little magic on the littering hordes at cheesesteak central, casting their leftover soda cups and cheesesteak wrappers into the wind rather than into the trash. Oh, and on everyone’s favorite speak-English advocate, Geno’s proprietor Joey Vento.

No such luck - the show’s web site teases that “a visit to historic Reading Terminal Market reveals the anxieties that plague us all. And, learn why two families are in a food-off over Philly cheese steaks!” Because they’re hungry? Because they’ve never tried roast pork? Because they are walking cliches? We can hardly wait for Dr. Phil to enlighten us! Watch for yourself when the first Philly show airs live from Independence Hall on Wednesday, September 16 at 5 p.m.
