‘Under One Umbrella’ Blends Cuisine with Molecular Mixology Tonight

Under One Umbrella, a unique cocktail-mixing and food tasting event, will command The Mark on Pico in Beverlywood tonight. Bringing together three chefs from elite catering companies Salt of the Earth and Epicurean Umbrella, each chef will present a tasting menu on the hour, enjoying a spot-lit moment to dish on technique while their food is passed around. The event is laid out like an art gallery, where food and drink are highlighted in place of art pieces. There will also be a gourmet potato chip bar, an old school candy bar, and a mini dessert bar. Expanding on what Jonathan Gold calls our “cocktail moment,” bartenders from Liquid Alchemy will go molecular on us, crafting martinis from cotton candy floss and gimlets with liquid nitrogen. The three-hour happening starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public for $52, with tickets at 323.350.0953. Check out what the tasting plates will include, below:


• Brioche crusted scallop with fresh corn pudding (presented with truffle potato salad on crostini wrapped in kobe beef).

• ‘Nachos’ side by side with ahi tuna tartare and asian duck over crispy housemade tortilla chips and wonton strips.

• The Burger Bite, a mini pulled short-rib sandwich w/ micro greens and matchstick fries.
