What to Eat at Stefan’s at L.A. Farm

While Vinoteque re-opened on Melrose last night, all eyes were on Top Chef-alum Stefan Richter who debuted Stefan’s at L.A. Farm in Santa Monica. It’s early, but so far Richter is dodging any expectations of douche-ery that stem from his cocky TV appearances. Slackmistress Nina Bargiel recently raved about the comfortable couches set around fire pits and the absinthe jelly oysters. When face-to-bald head with the chef, she found a Milwaukee’s Best-slugging Stefan to be, get this, “pretty charming.” Stefan’s mostly preparing small plates and entrees seasoned with local produce. For anyone hankering for sliced pig’s head, we’ve got a small sneak peak into some of what’s being served:

Appetizers:

• Celery Root Ravioli with Pancetta and Sage

• Sliced Pigs head with Champagne Chive Vinaigrette, Radishes and Frisee

Main Courses:

• Pan Seared John Dory with Lentil Parsnip Ragout, Baby Spinach, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Micro Greens

• Veal Chop with Cauliflower Puree, Roasted Shallots and Green Peppercorn Sauce

Small Plates:

• Beef Tartare with Poached Quail Egg and Breadstick

• Tater Tots with Hidden Valley Ranch

• Sweetbread Schnitzel with Potato Salad
