The Lombard Street izakaya Hime Restaurant has closed its doors, marking another casualty of this particularly rough year. The restaurant’s two Peninsula siblings — Shabuway in San Mateo and Mountain View — are still open, but the San Francisco shop apparently couldn’t hack it. Eater pointed out that it’s on a “desolate stretch of Lombard Street,” which may have something to do with dwindling income. Also of note: The restaurant had respectable two-and-a-half star rating from the Chron, proving that it’s not enough just to be good. You have to get people in the door, too.
