When to Eat and Drink at Luxe Hotel’s Cafe Rodeo

Normal human beings don’t often dine out in Beverly Hills unless hooked into some sugar-parent who spoils them. But then there are those who have to work there. The sharply dressed men and women employed part-time at Rodeo Drive’s designer retail shops lead us into a good secret at neighboring Cafe Rodeo at the Luxe Hotel on a recent Friday. Afternoons, particularly as the weekend nears, are often noisy with the model-hot shop-keeps slurping down $3.60 martinis (classic, apple, and dirty) and beers during three whole happy hours from 4:30-7:30 on weekdays. Tuesdays there are the best day to leave your brown-bag lunch at home as the Cafe offers gourmet club sandwiches with fries or a salad, plus a non-alcoholic drink, all tax and tip included, for fifteen dollars. While the cheap drinks and tipsy couture clerks are a no-brainer, the club sandwich meal could possibly come in handy next time you’re stuck in 90210 with less than a Grant in your pocket.
