Chef Robert Danhi

Chef Robert Danhi is the expert to thank for the Kaya Toast at Susan Feniger’s Street Restaurant. He’s also the one who takes calls from PF Chang’s or CPK when their menus need a jolt of Asian authenticity. His self-published, James Beard-nominated Southeast Asian Flavors is a vital cookbook and epic adventure covering the food cultures of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. Beginning September 19th, Danhi will lead tours through Little Saigon to teach the fundamentals behind Vietnamese cooking, while eating a lot on the way. We got a preview of his tours on a visit with the chef to Thuan Phat Market at 13861 Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove. Watch the slideshow to see what we saw; except for the pork blood, pig snout, and bull penis, which the store would not let us photograph.
