Recession Is Your Friend

You Tell Us: Is Yoshi’s 10 for $10 a deal?

Tonight is the first night of Yoshi’s 10 for $10 sushi deal, in which you get 10 pieces of sushi for $10 after 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Now, this is pretty much of a steal, designed to bring some much-needed customers into the struggling club, and we’re glad to see it arrive. However we’d like to hear people’s experiences with this particular bit of recession-baiting.

See, earlier this week Eve Batey at the Appeal ran a piece dissecting the nuances of the offer, which basically broke down to this: You get the chef’s choice of nigiri and sashimi, which may include slices of rolls. Yoshi’s rolls retail for $8.95 and come in five slices, so the remote chance is there for the restaurant so simply cut a few of those roll-slices in half and pass them off as full pieces of sushi. We think this unlikely, especially in light of all the attention the offer has gotten (and we just think they’re above that), but we’d love to hear reports from anybody who goes. Was the deal the steal it appears to be?
