Chicago Apparently Has Some Sort of ‘Green Food Resolution’

Our eyebrows found themselves in a bit of a raise when we read the New York Times column claiming that Big Apple lawmakers were being urged to follow Chicago’s lead in passing a “green food resolution” that we had, um, never actually heard of. The intrepid Martha Bayne looked into this confusing state of affairs; here’s the takeaway: 1. Contrary to the original New York Times report, Chicago hasn’t passed this resolution (which is nonbinding); it’s still in committee; 2. it’s a boilerplate resolution being promoted by Farm Sanctuary, whom you might recognize from such political brouhahas as the foie gras ban; 3. everything is very murky, and no one is entirely sure what is going on.
