On the heels of his profile of Anthony Mangieri, Michael Idov checks back in with the piazziolo to find out why, exactly, he closed shop. Diner’s Journal had indicated he might open another pizzeria on the West Coast, and here are the details: “What he wants is to create a perfect replica of Una Pizza Napoletana — including the name and the oven — in a location yet to be determined but likely to be San Francisco.” A return to Jersey may also be in the cards.
