Jerry Kleiner Opening a South Loop Bar — in a Movie Theater

Adding to his collection of South Loop destinations, Jerry Kleiner announced via an article in Crain’s Chicago that he’s planning to open a bar inside the Kerasotes movie theater slated to open later this year. The concept — anchored by custom furniture and featuring mezzanine-level seating and skybox views of the city skyline to the north — will ideally attract a more adult crowd to the theater, or at least that’s the hope of the Kerasote family. The thought is that Kleiner’s watering hole won’t just be an upscale concession area for movigoers: “With Jerry, there’s a chance it’ll be run as a bar,” real estate expert Barry Schain told Crain’s. “He’s got a sexy name, and he’s really good at delivering concepts.” We’ve never really thought of the name “Jerry Kleiner” as sexy, but we see what they’re feeling. The theater (and bar) aren’t scheduled to open until November. [Crain’s Chicago, via Sloopin]
