The Good Dumpling House at 214–216 Grand Street has been closed all week, with a shutter obscuring the most amazing sign in Chinatown. It’s too early to tell whether it will go the way of Grand Street Gourmet across the street (that space is still vacant after almost a year), but we’re keeping an eye open. Truth be told, the Good Dumpling’s dumplings are more greasy than good, and the Coca-Cola chicken (a precursor to the Dr Pepper ribs trend) isn’t all that great either, but the place is dirt cheap — and if the closing is permanent, we’ll miss the sliding takeout window that allowed you to order from the sidewalk, provided you stooped a couple of feet.
