What to Eat at Danny Meyer’s Public Fare, Now Open

Today, Danny Meyer invited us up to Central Park to check out Public Fare, his new takeout window in the Delacorte Theater. Starting tomorrow, it’ll officially open from 8 a.m. (serving Murray’s bagels and yogurt in the morning) through 8 p.m., with hours extended through intermission (till about 9:30 p.m.) during Shakespeare in the Park performances. Coming soon: a grill and waiter service for those standing in line to get into the Delacorte (if only the Shake Shack would get that!). For snacks, we tried a rich brownie studded with chocolate chunks and a plump, moist whoopie pie, a dessert Meyer believes will be the “next big thing since red-velvet cake.”
