Sal’s Comes to Suffolk

In a controversial move, Suffolk has rented the bottom floor of its Tremont Street dorm to New Hampshire-based chain Sal’s PIzza, reports the Herald. Residents of the Tremont on the Common condos next door opposed the move, fearing a fast food restaurant would “attract undesirables to the changing neighborhood.” Somehow, we doubt they’d be leveraging that complaint at The Upper Crust. Sal’s (which also operates Salvatore’s) had to make some concessions to gain the space including closing at 10 p.m., not serving alcohol, giving up outdoor seating, and, oddly, adding salads, fresh bread, and sandwiches to the menu. Undesirables hate sandwiches.
