A Roadmap to Chicago’s Local Breweries

The New York Times’ schoolgirl crush on Chicago continues this week with a love letter to our booming microbrew culture (though we feel the need to point out that because the piece is penned by hometown boy Ari Bendersky, it’s not so much New York realizing how awesome Chicago is, as it is Chicago pointing out its own awesomeness to New York). Bendersky notes that Chicago is following the leads of other local-brewery towns, finally going through “a brewing renaissance of its own.” He highlights such bastions of beer culture as Hopleaf, Piece, and Half Acre Beer — plus namechecks for Goose Island, Three Floyds, Metropolitan, Two Brothers, and more — even going so far as to suggest that tourists swing by and check out Dark Lord Day.
