Kids’ Restaurant Week Coming To Chicago

Restaurant Week: it’s good for the whole family! Magazines Gourmet and Cookie are joining forces to bring back another year of Kids’ Restaurant Week, running from June 20-28. This year, thirteen high-end Chicago restaurants (Aigre Doux, one sixtyblue, and Eve) open their doors to the young ‘uns with a prix-fixe menu (pay your age if you’re under 11; $29 for kids and adults 12 and older) and family-friendly dining times of 5-7pm.

Osteria Via Stato, one of the participating restaurants, told us “we’re not sure exactly what the menu’s going to be, since the chef will build it around what’s good at the Green City market. He’ll be featuring fruits and vegetables from different farmers, and our goal is to do something that’s friendly and accessible to kids that’s more ambitious than chicken fingers.” For last year’s Kids’ Restaurant Week, the restaurant served up a local veggies fritto misto, a giant raviolo filled with local cheese, and a fresh strawberry sorbet. Look for similar kid-friendly dishes this year, though the restaurant assured us that if the young folks have more adventurous palates, they’re always welcome to order the grown-up Restaurant Week menu instead.
