Octo Delayed By Turtles; Goodbye Susanna Foo

Octo Waterfront Grille was supposed to open Memorial Day weekend, but that date has been pushed back, and not for any of the usual reasons. Construction is on track, the job fair went fine, and the economy is not to blame. Rather, some protected red-bellied turtles have made their home under the deck, and the design had to be modified for their sake. The massive food and nightlife complex will now open in early June. • West Philly peeps take note: the Gold Standard Cafe soft-opened yesterday. They’re serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch, plus La Colombe coffee for your caffeine needs. [Meal Ticket]

• The Inquirer broke the news that Susanna Foo will be closing in August. The Radnor location of Susanna Foo Gourmet Kitchen will stay open. [Inquirer]

• The Swift Half, the Piazza at Schmidts project from the folks at Good Dog is opening next weekend, and they got their chef Jeff back from Osteria. [Beer Lass]

• Also on the coffee front, Ultimo Coffee opened in Newbold over the weekend — they were overwhelmed by the positive response. [Ultimo]
