Great Bay to Shutter on Sunday

Great Bay, Michael Schlow and Christopher Meyer’s seafood-focused restaurant in the Hotel Commonwealth, will close on Saturday, reports the Herald. The decision to close Great Bay, where entrees are solidly in the $20+ range, was, unsurprisingly, prompted by the economy. The Hotel Commonwealth’s leadership decided that “the best course of action was to close Great Bay rather than try to re-make it into something other than what it was designed to be: the best seafood restaurant in Boston.” There’s no word as of yet on what will go into the Great Bay space. Between this and Aujourd ‘hui’s closing, this is not such a good week for Boston’s hotel restaurants.
