Food Trucks Will Converge at BKLYN Yard’s Reopening

The jewel of the Gowanus Canal, the Yard, will be known as BKLYN Yard when it reopens this Saturday — perhaps to avoid confusion with the soon-to-open Soho Grand’s Yard. Of course, it’s hard to mistake this lovably homegrown waterfront picnic-meets-rave for any other venue in town. This year, it launches with an event called Parked, which will bring food trucks such as Pizza Moto, the Community Juice Truck, Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, and more. As for the rest of the season, Red Hook vendor Margarita will be back with her huaraches (get there early, before they’re devoured), and the Sunday Best house-music party will be back in the, well, house. Here’s the schedule.

May 23: PARKED! A celebration of the best food trucks in NYC

May 24: SUNDAY BEST w/ Quentin Harris

May 30: SCORE! Gowanus Free Swap

May 31: SUNDAY BEST w/ Mr. Scruff

June 20: NUBLUDAY

June 27: WINKEL & BALKTICK present …

August 8: SABBATH IN THE PARK w/ The RUB

P.S. Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Metromix interviews a Gowanus Yacht Club barkeep and learns that flying water balloons are a hazard of drinking there.
