David Kaplan of Death & Co. (which will be serving $10 drinks tonight in honor of World Cocktail Day) confirms a rumor on Down by the Hipster that he’s working on something in Philly. He’s not ready to talk opening date or exact location, but he sends us this official statement: “Proprietors LLC, a design and consulting company started by Death & Co Founder and Co-Owner David Kaplan, has been working on a project in Philadelphia in the Rittenhouse Square area. David, along with designer Jack Dakin (most recently of Rockwell Group) and Alex Day (Death & Co bartender and cocktail consultant), has been working on the design and bar program for the upcoming spot to be named The Franklin Mortgage and Investment Co.” Elsewhere in the mid-Atlantic, the fifth floor of Atlantic City’s Chelsea will reopen this season as the Cabana Club, according to an e-flyer. It’ll again be helmed by the Beatrice team but will feature upgrades such as Playstations (!) in the cabanas.
