Enter Sandman: The Building of Manhattan’s First Water Taxi Beach Begins

Photo: Jonah Green

Last weekend, when we cruised by what will soon be the scene of Water Taxi Beach’s new South Street Seaport location, all we saw was some empty pier space, a bunch of stacked-up picnic tables, and some chalk outlines, presumably for the mini-golf holes. But now the sand has arrived! We’re told workers will be smoothing it out over the next couple of days, so if you want to see a beach built, head on over to Pier 17 and grab yourself a concession-stand piña colada. Or just stay tuned for our updates.
