Since the official announcement went live at 1:20 p.m., the 227 folks Grubstweet is following on Twitter have issued no less than 31 tweets about Bruni’s imminent departure. Well, let’s give ’em something else to tweet about: The powers that be at this year’s New York City Wine & Food Festival tell us that one of Sir Bruni’s first public appearances after leaving his post will be at an October 8 discussion at Tishman Auditorium. The event is described to us as a “tell-all”: “He’ll share his most talked-about reviews, stories from the field and offer thoughts on the restaurant industry. Expect some recipients of his reviews to make surprise appearances.” Ben Leventhal (one of Bruni’s dinner companions, per Jason Neroni) will also be in on the discussion, which explains his tweet: “BRUNI DEPARTS: Timeline was established the second the pub date for the book was annc’d. But who gets the last 4-star rev before he leaves?” Folks, you’d better be quick with the keypad when tickets for this event (and others) go on sale June 15 at 9 a.m. on the festival’s website. Maybe log some more practice hours over at Ko’s site?
