Montenapo will open in the New York Times building on May 13, more than a year after we previewed the Milanese spot with a BiCE pedigree. One reason the unveiling may have taken so long: “Initially, we had a design firm, who were a very savvy group of young people who had great ideas. We gave them a budget of $3-4 million, and they came back with a budget of $8 million. So without mentioning their names, we had to terminate the relationship,” co-owner Henry Kallan tells BlackBook. According to our January 2008 preview, interior designer Studio A was in charge of the space. The restaurant is not in their online portfolio.
