Early Web Reports On Contigo A Mixed Bag

The Noe Valley hot spot that opened last month is still a bit too new for formal reviews, but the good old internets have plenty of opinions already, covering a pretty wide range. Contigo has been an online hot property since its inception, being the baby of Brett Emerson of In Praise of Sardines, so it’s not surprising the place is getting plenty of attention from other bloggers. However, it seems they may have some issues to work out yet.

The first report we saw was on Bits and Bites last week, where Jessica Battilana was very disappointed with the service:

By the time our first dishes arrived we’d already been there an hour. The bad service continued after our food arrived, including a full-scale debate with my server about whether or not my salad had the promised garlic chips (it didn’t). It even pervaded our last exchange, when I was unapologetically overcharged for my meal.

That was in pretty sharp contrast to Friday’s report-back in Hedonia, where Sean Timberlake sang the praises of his new favorite restaurant:

We decided to return later. Two days later. With entourage. And again the next week, and the week after that, and the week after that.

Meanwhile, Yelpers give the place four stars, and Chowhound Frosty Melon reports that the food is excellent, the space comfortable, the lines long, and the portions small.
