Bar Artisanal (Opening Tomorrow) and 675 Bar Launch With A-list Parties

Terrance Brennan’s new one, Bar Artisanal, and Steve Hanson’s latest, 675 Bar, will be the places to be during the Tribeca Film Festival. 675 Bar will host after-parties for Wonderful World (starring Matthew Broderick), The Girlfriend Experience (Steven Soderbergh’s new flick), and Moon, while Bar Artisanal has snagged the after-party for Spike Lee’s documentary Kobe Doin’ Work and Carlos “Y Tu Mama Tambien” Cuaron’s Rudo y Cursi. If you’re not on the list for these fêtes, you’ll have a chance to check out Bar Artisanal when it opens for dinner tomorrow at 5 p.m. (lunch and brunch will soon follow).

You’ll recall Terrance Brennan told us about his Artisanal spinoff some time ago. PR is now calling it a “barstro,” i.e. a cross between a bistro and a bar. Not sure if we can get behind that, but we can certainly get behind the “bar du fromage” serving artisanal cheeses and
charcuterie, plus a wood-fired oven turning out French-style pizzas (“pissaladieres”) such as sheep’s milk ricotta, fava beans, and mint pesto. Among the $20-and-under plates: warm carpaccio Black Angus with truffle dressing; stuffed skate with leeks and daube sauce; cod, potato, chorizo served with parsley pistou; and a menu du burgers including a lamb burger with goat-cheese fondue. Your reservation number: 212-925-1600.
