Alison Nelson closed the original West Village location of Chocolate Bar last year, and closed her East Village outpost after just six months of sluggish sales, but she’ll try again in the West Village when she opens a 500-square-foot store (with seating for twelve) on April 28. It’ll house the original’s shelves and espresso machine, but there’ll be a new executive chef (Gustaf Mabrouk — a native of Sweden who has worked under Charlie Palmer as well as been a private chef) making chocolate bars, single-origin and fair-trade truffles, hot-chocolate mixes, and Mallomars. Fans of the original can rest assured it’s just a few steps away, at 19 Eighth Avenue, between Jane and West 12th Streets.
