Greenpoint dance depot Studio B has reopened! Actually, it technically never closed (it’s been hosting one-off events), but now David Pianca, better known as promoter Dave P, and his partner, Josh Houtkin (a.k.a. JDH), are running the show. According to Pianka, the promoter who announced the club was closing was just disgruntled. After the letter went out, the owner contemplated shutting down the venue, but Pianca and Houtkin, who were already throwing events there (including their popular Fixed party), jumped in.

“We both feel this is the best club in New York,” Houtkin told us. “So we offered our services managing, running, and booking it.” Houtkin says that starting in March it’ll be open every weekend (you can see February events here), and in April it’ll be open for shows and D.J.’s during the week, too. The rooftop (now licensed and currently used for smoking, Houtkin says) will fully open by summer.

Meanwhile, to get people out to Greenpoint, the club is offering guests a free well drink or beer if they present a car service or taxi receipt dated that night. And they’re now letting in patrons under the age of 21. Party on, kids!
