Dine About Tahoe

This is a good time of year to bring in reviews of restaurants in — and on the way to — Tahoe and other ski areas. We had a really good visit earlier in the season, which mostly featured food cooked by an ambitious amateur chef friend, but did include a really excellent bowl of seafood chowder at Jake’s on the Lake, and a passable, but unexciting burrito at El Rinconcito.

Then we spilled coffee in our lap on the way home, after rolling around on the ground wrestling with tire chains. Good times.

We should have played that Truckee stop better. According to Kasey, from eating/sf, there’s a neat little selection of restaurants downtown, including one Pianeta, which she reviews glowingly, and which we are keeping on the short list. Probably the drive home wouldn’t have been the best time to take advantage of a luxurious Italian joint with a good wine list, but hey, it couldn’t be any worse than the drive we actually had.

Got any recommendations for dining in the Sierra? Please share. Hopefully we can bring you more of this ski-season coverage before the thaw.
