Alleged Hate Crime Victim Can’t Help But Praise Corner Bistro’s Burger

Writer Nick Haramis claims that he was thrown to the ground, and his boyfriend punched in the face, by a Corner Bistro worker who didn’t like the fact that they were only ordering fries. Here’s the conversation that occurred when he complained to the manager: “Me: ‘I’m sorry that we caused such a scene, and I really don’t want to add to the trouble. But I do want you to know that your employee hit us, threw us, and called us a couple of faggots.’ Manager: ‘I didn’t see anything.’” No one was available for comment when we called Corner Bistro.

BlackBook commenters have already chimed in to doubt the worrisome account — one of them describes the establishment as “gay friendly,” which makes us wonder whether this might’ve been a case of anti-Beatrice tension (the Bistro, of course, is where all the Bea rejects end up). But perhaps the most far-fetched thing about the account is the guy’s misgivings about coming forward: “Was I ruining my chances of ever tasting another Bistro burger?” This after the guy was allegedly beaten upside the head? What’s it going to take for people to stop calling these burgers “pretty great”?!
