Platt Applauds Neroni; Make a Six-Footer for Your Super Bowl Party

Chef Jason Neroni “has found his balance” at 10 Downing, writes an approving Adam Platt in the magazine this week. Platt also went to West Branch, and Tom Valenti’s “Ouest Lite” on the Upper West Side gets a deuce, too. America’s favorite secular holiday, Super Bowl Sunday, is coming up this weekend, and Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld have you covered. They asked sandwich experts from ’ino, Porchetta, and Cabrito to create six-foot heros that you can make for your own party. For more adventurous cooks, Esca’s Dave Pasternak shows us how to make calamari salad. We’ve even got a video demonstration, in case you weren’t quite sure how to clean a squid. Rob and Robin also found a cheap, wintry treat on Gottino’s menu: rabbit potpie for $9. Finally, be sure to pick up the magazine this week to see the retooled “New & Recommended” restaurant listings, edited by Grub Street’s own Alexandra Vallis. New icons help I.D. restaurants that are good for solo diners, recommended dishes guide your meal, and there’s newsy bits peppered throughout.
