A China Chalet delivery van plowed into a group of schoolchildren (age 4 and younger) in Chinatown this morning, killing two and injuring others, including an adult who is in critical condition. Witnesses tell NY1 that the driver jumped the curb while backing up and pinned his victims against a wall at 38 East Broadway, near Catherine Street. The driver told police that he left the truck to make a delivery (perhaps to a seafood restaurant that Newsday mentions) and the vehicle kept running.
