A certain marketing-savvy pomegranate drink has hijacked the Dessert Truck, sort of like a publicity-seeking Keanu Reeves in Speed. This afternoon, the truck will begin a tour of “every media outlet in New York” (says the flack), making various midtown stops so that folks can try two new creations — a macaroon and a truffle lollipop — both made with the trendy pomegranate drink. After determining which of the two is more popular, Chef Jerome Chang will serve one of them during National Pomegranate Month. This raises the question: Now that it has a Vendy award to its name, what sort of lucrative cross-promotion is in store for the Treats Truck? Red Bull Brownies, anyone? Here’s the Dessert Truck’s schedule for today, if you want in on the action.
