Does Jeanne Geraci have an edge in the Blue Hill at Stone Barns locally grown recipe contest? More than 70 people submitted a recipe based on ingredients from their home gardens, and finalists prepared their dishes at Stone Barns last month. The winner, who will be announced on Saturday, gets free dinner for two at Dan Barber's locavore temple. Jeanne Geraci made it to the finals with her cucumber-tomato duet, and it's Barber's ethic that helped make her garden grow. According to a Journal News, the farm-to-table missionary actually responds to fan e-mails and Geraci reached out to Barber years ago "after a photo of his asparagus soup appeared in an issue of Gourmet magazine. He wrote back, steering her toward some of his favorite recipes." Good luck to the contestants this weekend (those inspired by the Food Network might need it). [Lohud.com]
