Trader Joe’s Second Coming in Cobble Hill

Trader Joe’s opens its third* New York City location in Brooklyn on Friday. The store, on Atlantic Avenue and Court Street, is getting plenty of ink from the New York press, but their boosterism brings to mind the coverage of a different chain’s arrival elsewhere in America. To wit:

“They have a great selection, good prices, and they have great store-brand merchandise like cereal and coffee.” —B’klyn Licking Its Chops Over Trader Joe’s, New York Post

“The prices are right, especially if they have healthy and organic choices,” —Trader Joe’s Arrival Has Shoppers Raring To Go, New York Daily News

“Anything you like, we probably have,” Hagarty said. “We’re known for our soup and salad specials. We have three different kinds of soups. Soup and salad and breadsticks — that’s kind of our lunch staple. Everybody loves it, and they always rave about it.”—Olive Garden Arrives, Sioux City Journal

Update: The Brooklyn Paper posted a video tour of the new Trader Joe’s. Shelves are stocked and eighteen registers stand sentry, awaiting crazed Brooklynites who are done with Key Food. [The Brooklyn Paper]

*Correction: The original version of this item listed only two Trader Joe’s locations in New York City. There are three: Union Square, Rego Park, and Cobble Hill.
