Economy’s Tanking, Raise Your Tankards

We have far too poor of an understanding on how the economy works to really parse what happened over the weekend, but we’re aware enough to know that it’s B-A-D, bad. What better way to deal with the (impending?) collapse of the economy than by drowning our sorrows in booze? Or, on a more optimistic tack, what better way to show that this is not just like 1929 than by having a quaff in public?

• In a splendiferous two-fer (and definitely the most budget suggestion we’re going to make), Happy Hour at Dive Bar not only involves cheap drinks, but also free pizza. Truly a deal that cannot be argued with.

• Somewhat pricier, Chick’s Cafe & Wine Bar has quite a few fancy-ish cocktail options. The “Front Stoop Lemonade” (Bluecoat gin, homemade lemon cordial, Thai basil syrup, fresh lemon, soda) sounds refreshing, delicious, and dangerous all in one.

• To file away for tomorrow, Farmicia has a nice little Happy Hour with half-priced cocktails, beer, and wine. It goes until 7pm, and most conveniently, Farmicia is also participating in Restaurant Week. (Not to put ideas in your head, but this means that you could — theoretically, of course — sit at the bar for a bit, sipping on a half-priced cocktail, and then chow down on their Restaurant Week menu.)
