Two new venues are poised to reverse the trend of dwindling supermarkets. LIQ City confirms that MetFoods will replace the Mainco elevator building on 51st Avenue between Vernon and 5th Street. And the Brooklyn Paper reports that wholesale club BJ’s is close to striking a deal with Thor to open a store on the site of the old Revere Sugar Factory on Beard Street. It’ll be the chain’s second Brooklyn location — a third is in the works for Bensonhurst. This may not sit well with the anti-Ikea set, but we know one person who’s happy about it. A co-worker who goes by the name of Cereal Killer due to her addiction to CTC (white-rapper favorite Cinnamon Toast Crunch) sent us this photo showing what happens when you get in over your head at the Beej. Apparently, there were more boxes where these came from, and buy-one-get-one-free coupons for doubling the supply at a later date. Clear your shelves of Solzhenitsyn tomes, studio-dwellers: This could be your future.
