Food Network Ponders Competitive-Eating Show

The Food Network is considering a competitive eating show, but the concept is sort of baffling. Says The Hollywood Reporter, “The show, from Pie Town Prods. (‘Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels’), is described as a cross between an eating competition and ‘The Amazing Race.’ Two teams of contestants rush to various Los Angeles eateries and gorge themselves in face-stuffing challenges.” Wouldn’t New York make more sense? Eating 12,000 calories in a day à la Michael Phelps (or like the reporter who reproduced his diet) is wiser when you’re at least walking from place to place. And we’d love to see the contestants reduced to tears while trying to crack the reservation system at Ko.
