Are You Willing to Go This Far to Dodge the Line at Nathan’s?

We weren’t able to try one of these $3 kosher hot dogs since the vending machine we encountered off the Coney Island boardwalk — that’s right, a hot-dog vending machine — was empty. Which just goes to show how many people are willing to pass up the goodness of Nathan’s for something that’s grilled in seconds using infrared technology (funny enough, the machine is poised right between the two Nathan’s locations). According to a Times piece about these scary things and their creator Ruby Azrak (also head of Beyoncé’s clothing line), the hot dogs are sometimes in the machine for 21 days at a time. But whatevs! The option is there next time you’re too loaded on piña-colada beakers to care.
