Artist Exposes the Existential Beauty of the Frigidaire

A while back, the magazine took a look inside of Mario Batali’s and Mireille French Women Don’t Get Fat Guiliano’s fridges, and now you can peek inside 42 others, thanks to artist Steven Samet, whose somewhat more pedestrian fridge-tography collection is on display at Williamsburg’s ART 101 gallery through June 13. We’re way too jaded to reprint his artist’s statement here, but, needless to say, he compares Cheez Whiz to cherubim’s arms and Styrofoam containers to the background of a Chardin painting, which makes us think his interest in this matter may just have arisen from a serious case of the munchies.
